With more than 20 years of experience, Michael Ahmadshahi is one of Orange County’s premier intellectual property attorneys, handling patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation. His work is both in litigation as well as transactional matters.

In one of the most business-friendly counties in California, Michael has developed a niche in helping businesses develop product lines and launch new lines.

He’s widely recognized by clients as peers for his ability to obtain significant results in highly complex IP cases. This includes:

  • $10 million for his client in a patent infringement case
  • $3 million for his client in a patent infringement
  • $500,000 for his client in a trade dress infringement case

A pillar in the “OC” legal and business communities, Michael is a long time member of the Orange County Bar Association and he’s been admitted to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office. He’s also a member of the Iranian-American Lawyer Association.

Michael’s clients are from multiple industries, including manufacturing companies, organizations in the food stuffs industry and much more.

Based in Irvine, CA, clients throughout Orange County often turn to Michael for his unique understanding of patents, trademarks and other IP-related issues. He has a technical background and was a scientist before he became an attorney. Few lawyers can boast such an expert understanding of the science behind their clients’ products and ideas.

Science often comes into play while drafting patent applications, and he writes for inventions which is where his technical background most comes into play. In fact, he actually holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

In addition to his work in intellectual property, Michael also handles some business torts such as breach of contract, fraud, unfair business practices, contract law and business conflicts. He also has a solid background in formation of entities such as corporations, LLCs, partnerships and partner disputes, member disputes and shareholder disputes.

He works with business owners across multiple fields, guiding them through complex legal matters. He’s handled a variety of matters, and is in many ways a “go to” attorney a variety of business-related legal issues. His work with specific products includes litigation involving LED lights, cannabis, synthetic urine, light therapy face masks, movies, portable media players, anti-snoring devices, computer systems and much more. Michael himself is an entrepreneur and inventor, holding 3 patents (Nos. US9,667,574; US9,397,972; US8,738,156).

He’s published extensive articles on specific issues within the aerospace industry, as well as other technical issues. As an accomplished scientist, Michael belongs to several science and engineering organizations, including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Society of Experimental Mechanics and the American Society for Non-destructive Testing.

Michael’s expertise has been called upon by clients often in extremely difficult legal situations, and review and review shows a glowing response to his understanding and ability with the law.

One client went so far as to say “he has done a couple of patents for me and other times I have retained him for just legal advice. He is simply the best at what he does.
